| By Spence FinlaysonMany people live their lives always expecting the worst. They suffer from negative thinking always believing that Murphy’s Law will get them. You have to expect the best always. Live your life with a positive expectant attitude. What you think about is what you bring about.
While watching popular televangelist Joel Osteen one Sunday morning, he said that we should always think that “something good is going to happen to me today”. I tried that and believe me it works. Create positive expectations and you would have positive results.
We impose great meaning on day to day events and the conversation we have with ourselves about them leads us toward either success or failure. Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon, founder and president emeritus of Christ Universal temple in Chicago, Illinois said “we have the ability to shape, change, accept or reject anything we want. Open our minds to positive thought and faith and prosperity can become a reality for each of us.” It is better to expect a lot of yourself than just a little. What your life will become in the future is determined by what you are doing in the present. Today’s thoughts and actions will define your tomorrows. Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Live today with a positive expectancy seeing the good that hides in every situation as a pessimist sees difficulties in his opportunities, the optimist sees opportunities in his difficulties. Many persons today find themselves in some difficult situations because of the downturn in the world’s economy. Today we are witnessing more financial setbacks both in our private lives and in the business world. The headlines of banking failures, mass layoffs, downsizing and bankruptcy continue to scream at us from the pages of local and international newspapers. However, just remember “that a setback is just a set up for a comeback.” Expect the best. Expect that your situation will turn around. Don’t stop believing! Sometimes we wonder why the experiences we are having are not exactly what we anticipated. Could it be that we are not really believing what we say we are expecting? To experience the best that life has for you, you must control your thoughts. Everything begins in your thoughts. When your thinking deviates into negative territory you must deny them that prerogative and regain your dominion over them. After your thinking is altered, your feelings and positive experiences automatically follow. As you start your brand new day always remember to expect the best because “something good is going to happen to you today”.
